A medical office specializing in ophthalmology, in vitreo-retinal diseases and surgery. They have two offices, one in San Diego and one in Oceanside. They were looking to connect the two office’s networks together to share data and equipment results. They contacted BrenTech to get this job done. They had been referred by another medical office, whom BrenTech has been the technology provider for many years.

The old technology company for them had an eclectic array of technologies in the san diego office that was failing and not designed for optimal productivity, they were even using an external USB hard drive as their data drive for mission critical data. They were constantly needing to reboot the old server to allow workstations to connect to the data drive. Upon discovery of the network conditions, BrenTech found that most of the 63 workstations had non-HIPPA compliant procedures, passwords, and policies in place.

BrenTech designed a new domain at the San Diego office using Server 2016 and a read-only domain controller in Oceanside to control domain authentication and traffic. The two networks were connection using an encrypted VPN tunnel using SonicWall gateway devices. The new server in San Diego was configured to host the data from both offices making a single repository for the staff to access retinal images and data for the doctors available from either office.

BrenTech also audited all workstations and implemented HIPPA compliant policies and procedures. After implementing policies and training the staff on HIPPA compliance, BrenTech was able to certify HIPPA compliant and provide a HIPPA compliance plaque for display in the waiting rooms of both offices.

After installing the new network and servers along with enforcing password compliance and training, They have not had any issues with their network in over 3 years since putting in the new technology. When the employees come to work they are able to get to work without the technology failing as had been the case before BrenTech was involved. Their management was so impressed with the work BrenTech had done they expanded their relationship to include BrenTech’s encypted email services, web design services, and continue to be one of BrenTech’s most valued support agreement clients.
